Hey Joe,
It's hard to believe it's been a year since you passed away. Your presence is still deeply missed in our home, but we're doing our best to keep your memory alive.
Whenever we eat pretzels or drink ginger ale, we can't help but think of you. You had a way of making even the simplest moments feel special and memorable.
Your funny sayings and stories have become a part of our family's collective history. "Fresh from the sea" is said on a daily basis. We make it a point to remember you so Macy and Marilyn always remember your fun adventures together.
Today, we'll be Guatupian handshaking in your honor and remembering the many ways you touched our lives. We miss you, Joe, but we know that your spirit lives on in our hearts.
Joe had a unique light heartenedness that always shined regardless of his mental state. He had a jovial spirit that always made you feel at ease and smiling. Every interaction I ever shared with him was wonderful. A True testament to his good character and good will towards others. I feel honored to have known him, and I hope his friends and family take notes of how he conducted himself. RIP friend, you left a wonderful legacy of beautiful children and grandchildren who will carry your spirit with them everyday, and via those you have made an impact on, your legacy will live on eternally. <3
Karin and I offer our deepest sympathy for your loss. In your time of mourning, I know you are and should be proud of Joe’s devoted service to this great Nation. God bless you.
Joe had my back and I his. He was a very special friend to me. From stamps and coins to college stories…I’m grateful he touched my life.
God bless Vickie, Anne, Miranda, and family during this difficult time.
Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
I am grateful to have had cousin Micky in my life as a mentor. I have learned 5 valuable precepts over the years from Micky that individually seem random:
1. The white, divided line spacing on a highway is such that if one counts
60 dashes in 60 seconds, you are traveling at 60 miles per hour.
2. Don’t play, “Who can drink more Singapore Slings?” with a 6ft-5 Army
veteran.
3. “I’m black-ops on the internet!”
4. April 15th is just a date on the calendar.
5. Guatupian
but collectively show hints of Solomon’s wisdom…
1. Do not rely solely on technology, have alternatives at the ready,
2. Consumption in moderation,
3. Protect your digital footprint,
4. To the extent possible, control the interactions with government
authorities, and
5. Have fun!
Which all leads one towards, “the highest levels of self-actualization!!”
Joe was always kind and helpful to me at the National Guard Bureau. He was a true friend and comrade. I will miss him. Sending prayers to the family.
Joe was a great friend. He loved his family and he talked about them often. I talked Joe into doing some fishing and hunting with me in the Virginia mountains, which I believe he really enjoyed. I would always tease him about being an officer in the Army, Quartermaster at that. He was funny and surely would be the spotlight of any conversation. He is surely missed; until we meet again my friend.
